Birmingham City FC sponsorship sees Blues team up with Green
Birmingham City Football Club has teamed up with a local CBD brand in a ‘world first sports partnership agreement’
This football first will tie together two big Birmingham names as they launch their partnership this Saturday.
Green Monkey CBD will supply CBD drinks throughout the St. Andrew’s Trillion Trophy Stadium outlets on match days and their cocktails will available in the hospitality areas.
We spoke to Birmingham City’s Head of Media Communications Colin Tattum, who said:
“Ultimately we are just looking at introducing new and different product ranges for our supporters, which will hopefully enhance their overall experience on a match day.
“Consumer buying trends are changing all the time, and many of our customers are looking for more than just the traditional football products that we sell, although there will always be a market for them.”
An official press release on the partnership quoted Green Monkey CBD CEO Serge Davies, who said:
“With a big club, with a massive fan base right on our doorstep, it was a natural tie-in for us.
“What the Club have done in reinvigorating their fan base has been excellent and we wanted to be a part of that and introduce our brand to the fans.
“CBD is a growing market as people are becoming more concerned about their health and wellbeing and searching for something else.
“Of course it will be great to see our fans drinking our cocktails and cans at the game, but the bigger issue is spreading the word about CBD and educating people on what it is.”
A series of engagement events will promote the brand’s image and Green Monkey CBD will make use of the club’s advertising outlets to boost brand awareness.
Over one million of Green Monkey’s 10mg CBD carbonated drinks have been sold since the launch 10 months ago.
This is not the first time a CBD company has teamed up with a major name in sport.
This year alone has seen Indy 500 collaborate with Craft 1861, Lanzarus Naturals sponsor American baseball team The Portland Pickles and UFC announce a research partnership with Aurora Cannabis.
