6 ways to add CBD to your make up routine

6 ways to infuse your beauty routine with CBD

On the face of it, CBD has many benefits for the skin. As an anti-inflammatory, it may help with angry breakouts and calming patches of redness.

These properties mean CBD has become a bit of a make-up trend of late, popping up in our favourite products from fixing sprays to brow gels to face creams in the aisles of pharmacies and online beauty shops.

Here are our picks for the best CBD make-up and skincare products out there right now.

1. Use a CBD-infused moisturiser

Foundation looks better on freshly moisturised skin. Popping on a little CBD in the morning can keep skin looking fresh, dewy and healthy throughout the day, due to the emollient nature of this hemp extract.

2. Acne, be gone!

As well as being a super emollient, CBD in face cream is also great for those who suffer from rosacea or acne. While the research has a long way to go, there is evidence which shows it may help regulate the production of oil by our sebaceous glands.

As anyone who has ever experienced acne will attest, oily skin means angry, often uncontrollable breakouts.

One 2015 study examined the effects of CBD on human sebaceous gland function and determined that CBD behaves as a highly effective sebostatic agent. What does that mean? Basically, where skin was too oily, the applied CBD calmed the oil production down to a more normal point.

As a result, the researchers concluded that CBD has the potential to treat acne.

“Our findings suggest that, due to the combined lipostatic, antiproliferative, and antiinflammatory effects, CBD has potential as a promising therapeutic agent for the treatment of acne vulgaris.”

3. In a flutter

While we aren’t quite sure how much CBD you can absorb through your lashes, it’s worth noting that the oil based extract helps to condition the lashes making application easier. Build up your lashes with multiple coats or one swipe for a more natural finish.

4. Pucker up

The cold (and unpredictable) weather can play havoc with our skin creating chapped or cracked lips but CBD balms can help the skin repair and protect itself.

Adding CBD to your lip balm is a great way to add some extra moisture or create a smoother base for dry make up formulas like matt or liquid lipsticks.
