Billy and Charlotte Caldwell’s ‘Walk with the Wizard’ raises more than £3,500 over Bank Holiday weekend
Billy Caldwell and Mum Charlotte raised £3,680 in the first four days of their ‘Walk with the Wizard’ fundraising drive.
The Caldwells are trekking 1000 miles from their home in Northern Ireland to Westminster to raise funds to support thousands of chronic pain patients on the NHS.
The duo are now just £1,320 shy of their £5,000 crowdfunding target.
Billy and Charlotte walked 11,165 steps and 7.3km yesterday, arriving in Liverpool.
No trip to the city would be complete without a visit to the pier to see the famous bronze Beatles statues.
Charlotte told The CANNAVIST:
“We got talking to a lovely guy who suffered from chronic pain. He had this mobility scooter that he’d done up to be a bit more fun, with stickers and so on. It looked like a wizard scooter. He let Billy and I have a ride on it and we drove the last 200 metres to the statue and had our picture taken.
“It’s incredible stuff like this and hearing people’s stories because it’s all about the patients. These vulnerable, chronically ill patients are at the centre of this. This is why we are doing what we’re doing.
“No patient should have to go through the torturous ordeal that Billy has endured these last five years.”
Billy’s case was instrumental in medical cannabis being legalised in 2018.
I Am Billy is a campaign to open up patient access to medical cannabis through publicly funded prescriptions.
